Let's get fizzical

The 1980 (or perhaps 1979) Perrier advert I referred to was shown only a few times in French cinemas before it was banned. In France. I was one of the lucky few that caught it, and joined a whole roomful of French people dissolving into hysterical laughter simultaneously. I have searched YouTube and sadly it is not there. It is too good not to share, so I shall attempt to describe it for you.

A bottle of Perrier water stands bathed in soft lighting. The music starts - Serge Gainsbourg's "Je t'aime, moi non plus". A woman's hand appears and caresses the bottle. The bubbles start rising to the surface. The music gets louder and Jane Birkin's panting gets more urgent. The woman's hand is now encircling the bottle and sliding up and down. The bubbles are going mad, the water is fizzing away and the screw top is undoing itself. When Gainsbourg gets to "maintenant - viens!" and Birkin gives it her All, the screw top flies off and the water comes shooting out.

Personally I prefer Badoit, but their advertising is not half
so much fun.

I think it's good for the kidneys...
"Je vais et je viens entre tes reins..."
Fancy banning an ad about the medicinal properties of fizzy water!
Must've been the screw top!

Eau! Don't stop!

Eau!...Eau!...Eau!

With all that release things must be left a little flat...

Am I misremembering or was there an advert for John smith's Bitter in Britain with ladybirds shagging in time to Je t'aime moi non plus

I hope so, anyway; it would be a bit embarrassing to have imagined that one

you definitely caught blogging fever this weekend. It must have been that lunch with zed last friday.

banana, i'll have to drag the old dragon out to lunch again this friday then - she's absolutely gagging to meet bart.

gert, i really hope you weren't imagining that as well ...

A powerful image, milady, but the woman should have put the bottle inside her mouth at the climactic moment. A gorilla will never approve of wasting fluids.

Eeeewwww GB! That's just rude!

Tres drole Cream, I love the way you can make terrible jokes in two languages!

Sam, eau! you are a juan.

Gert, did the man in your life have a VW Beetle at the time? This could explain the vivid dreams.

Banana, my internet connection is presently on the opposite side of Brussels to my bed and kitchen, so this weekend I left you with enough to see you through to next week, or whenever I am reunited with my ISP.

Zed, I'm getting suspicous about Bart. He's just got back from the Congo and trouble has already kicked off over there.

GB, your version would never have made it into the cinema to start with!

Pat, forgive him, he has no idea that he is evoking a highly charged sexual image. I don't think female gorillas do blow jobs.

Hi Daphne, I had a bit of a search for the Perrier ad (which I've seen too on one of those '100 best whatever' progs), but no luck.

Still, I found some other amusing stuff I wasn't expecting... And for your delectation, here it is! (If you're at work, turn the sound down)

Ah yes Art imitating Life.
National Lampoon once had a great spoof in the late 70s when 'bottled water' UGH! started to make a splash. It was called Terrier and you guessed it a cute little dog adorned the label.
The caption read Pure spring goodness..
from the centre of a dog.
I guess you had to be there.

Edinburgh Festival Fringe: Perrier Awards for Comedy. My god that festival is commercialised.

(I think Perrier have dropped the sponsorship now, so I will never get an award.)

Didn't they find one of their springs was poisonous a few years back? None of this detracts from the awe of your post though. Wanking a bottle! The very idea!

Now if she could have got the top off using just her maidenhood, that would be impressive.

HE, maybe Terrier = digs underground = water comes from underground spring ... ???? Tenuous at best, I agree.

Peter, I think she did in the version that was shown in Thailand.

Was it something I said?

Sorry f:lux, I tried to post a comment just for you, but my machine is effing about and it wouldn't go through. I still cannot see what you lot can see, even from my computer at work (not blogging, boss, just tinkering), and I have to come in through the dashboard to read your comments and post one myself. It's all too, too frustrating.

That's a great site, by the way. Just the ticket for when you need a good laugh.

Oh phew! I suddenly worried the Trojan ads might have offended...

What you need for your techie problems is a hunky geek. Come on chaps, damsel in distress!

Daphne Wayne-Bough said...

Mmm... hunky geek ... isn't that an oxy moron? Zed is having similar probs, I think it's Blogger up the creek, not me.

Offended, moi? Give me your most shocking, offensive, outrageous material, I'm shockproof. A bloke on a lonely hearts site sent me a close-up of his rather huge erect beastie. I deleted his email but kept the picture. I'll forward it to you, for a price.
